Lentil and Yam Soup

1 cup orange lentils

2 cubed yams

diced onion

10 cups of water

1/2 cup tomato paste or sauce

1/2 tsp. cumin

1 tbs. sweet paprika

1 tbs. parve chicken soup power


Saute onion till golden, add the lentils, tomato paste, spices and some of the water. Mix well. Add the rest of the water, bring to a boil, lower the flame and add the yams. Cook for about an hour until the lentils and yams are soft.
