Brigadier General Moti Almoz, the IDF Spokesman, held a press briefing Sunday in which he spoke about the ongoing search for the abducted yeshiva boys: “According to the information in our possession,” he said, “our working assumption is that the boys are alive.”

Almoz said that the political echelon and security forces are making “a supreme effort” to bring back the youths.

"We are alert and prepared on the other sectors, in Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza, with all of the means at the IDF's disposal,” he added.

Regarding the explosion in which a 15-year-old boy was killed on the border with Syria, Aloz said: “This is a very grave event. The Chief of Staff has carried out a situation assessment and we are considering our next steps. Tanks from the 7th Brigade returned fire toward brigades on the Syrian side.”

It is not clear at this point if the explosion was caused by an explosive charge, a missile or a mortar shell.
