Arab MK Ahmed Tibi (Raam-Taal) verbally attacked Border Guard officers on Sunday night, calling them "ravenous dogs of the occupation" on his Facebook account.

Tibi's insult came in a status post accompanied by a video clip, showing several Border Guard officers on the Temple Mount. An elderly Muslim is seen facing off against one of them and apparently hitting him, at which point the officers wrestle him to the ground as he tries to fight them off.

In the video shouts of "Allahu Akbar" ("Allah is great") can be heard from numerous female Arab visitors to the site, and plastic chairs are seen thrown at the officers.

While the details of the incident remain unclear, it is likely the clash occurred last Friday when police limited Arab access to the site, following intelligence reports that indicated Muslim visitors planned to hold riots at the Temple Mount that day.

Only male Arab residents of Israel over the age of 45, as well as Arab women of all ages, were allowed to the site, an element which matches the fact that in the video only an elderly man is seen and only women's shouts are heard.

The Arab MK wrote in Arabic "what is this elderly Muslim's sin? Did he say 'Allahu Akbar' at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and already the ravenous dogs of the occupation fell upon him?"

Tibi added below the Arabic sentence the following in Hebrew: "What is the sin of this elderly Muslim? He said 'Allahu Akbar' at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and they pounced on him like wild dogs?" He ended the sentence with the slur "kalgasim," a derogatory Hebrew term for soldiers along the lines of "shock troops."

A tradition of misbehavior

Tibi is not alone in libeling IDF soldiers; just last Thursday Arab MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) caused outrage when she met with a visiting class of ninth-grade students from the Rogozin High School in Kiryat Ata near Haifa, and called the IDF soldiers who stopped the 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla "murderers."

This is not Tibi's first time making insulting statements towards the state he ostensibly serves; his conduct in a Knesset meeting last November warranted complaints by other MKs after he hreatened Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount, saying menacingly "whoever comes to defile the Al-Aqsa Mosque will find us there."

In the meeting Tibi likewise threatened an intifada terror war if Jewish rights to visit the Temple Mount were exercised, and said "I am proud to be (former Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser) Arafat's friend...his shoe is worth ten like you."

A complaint was similarly filed against Tibi in January after he heckled visiting Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the Knesset.
