President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has obtained clearance to establish a university in Tehran after he leaves office next week, the government’s Islamic Republic News Agency announced Monday.

According to a report on, Ahmadinejad’s "Iranians University" will focus on information technology, nanotechnology, aerospace and nuclear science.

The report was the first official confirmation of Ahmadinejad’s plans for after he steps down from office on August 4, which have been the subject of speculation.

Ahmadinejad, who could not run for a third term, is to relinquish the presidency on Sunday to Hassan Rouhani, who is viewed largely as a “moderate” by the international community.

Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad recently celebrated his notorious Holocaust denial as his proudest political achievements.

“That [Holocaust denial] was a taboo topic that no one in the West allowed to be heard… We put it forward at the global level. That broke the spine of the Western capitalist regime,” Ahmadinejad said during his farewell speech, while calling on the Arab world to unite against Israel.
