Knesset Members Yariv Levin and Orit Struk, heads of the Knesset Lobby for the Land of Israel, praised a ruling by the Judea and Samaria (Yehuda and Shomron) Appeals Committee upholding the claim of Jewish purchasers of Beit HaMachpela in Hevron.

The military appeals court accepted the appeal of the Jews who bought the property, ruling that the purchase was made according to law.

The court also required the Attorney General’s Office to pay the purchasers’ court fees.

Implementation of the decision, however, requires the signature of Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

In August 2012 former Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered the removal of the residents who purchased the building despite a request by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to allow the judicial process to proceed and determine the course of events.

MK Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi / Jewish Home) supported the two lawmakers in calling for Ya’alon to immediately approve the transaction, thus enabling Jews to return to the residence.

Beit HaMachpela is located at the foot of the Cave of the Patriarchs, known in Hebrew as the Me’arat HaMachpela.
