Funding cuts affecting yeshivas and government decisions requiring hareidi-religious men to enlist in the IDF will ultimately benefit the hareidi community, Rabbi Aharon Leib Shteinman said, speaking at a Lev Leahim conference in Bnei Brak.

“We must know that everything the Holy One does is His will, and G-d’s will is what will be. That is true now as well,” he told his audience.

“We have to work on faith. In the end it will all turn to good,” he said.

Rabbi Shteinman mentioned the current government coalition, which does not include hareidi-religious parties, and the government’s intent to require hareidi men to enlist in the military as two bad things that will ultimately be proven to have been for the best.

To prove his point he recalled the story of the Biblical patriarch Yosef (Joseph), who was thrown into a pit by his brothers, an act that ultimately led to his ascent to power in Egypt.

Several weeks ago Rabbi Shteinman called on Jewish men to learn Torah for five days straight in order to “cancel the decree” against Torah scholars.
