Arabs are continuing to harass Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria, with the latest incident having occurred over Shabbat in the Binyamin region community of Neve Tzuf.

The Arabs broke into the olive grove adjacent to the community and destroyed trees. They only fled the scene when local residents arrived and chased them away.

The mainstream Israeli media outlets mostly ignore such incidents and did not report on this as well. They feature every unsubstantiated report of alleged damage to Arab orchards, although none has ever been proven. Eran Segal, a resident of Neve Tzuf who in the past served as its spokesman, recalled what happened in a conversation with Arutz Sheva on Monday.

Segal said that the incident began around 4:00 p.m. last Saturday. Children who were playing in the northern part of the community identified a number of Arabs arriving at the olive grove and several of them entering it and starting to damage the trees.

Segal emphasized that the Arabs were very close - about 50 meters - to the fence surrounding the community. He said he heard the calls for help as he took an afternoon nap. He then went outside and together with other residents chased the invaders, who fled to a nearby hill where they started shouting and cursing at locals.

According to Segal, this incident is just another one in a sequence of incidents of harassment on the part of Arabs from surrounding villages. He noted that the frequency of such incidents increased after the IDF decided to abandon its post in the area.

Since this IDF decision was implemented, he noted, Neve Tzuf’s residents - as well as residents of neighboring towns - have been suffering from constant Arab attacks, including rock throwing at the road leading to the community.

"The army moved out its forces and the first ones who learned about it were the Arabs - who exploit it," he said, calling on the IDF to bring soldiers back into the area and take control of the region.

On Monday it was revealed that the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the IDF have arrested members of a terror gang who were involved in a shooting attack near Neve Tzuf in December 2012.

The incident occurred in mid-December. Terrorists fired about 30 shots at a vehicle driving next to the town. Nearly caught up in the crossfire was a resident of the town who was waiting for a ride on the main road. Miraculously he was uninjured.

The terrorists were members of Fatah, the organization that controls the Palestinian Authority in Judea and Samaria, headed by PA chief Mahmoud Abbas.

Last months, Arabs severely beat a 69-year-old taxi driver, stole his cab and left him bleeding at the side of the road, near Neve Tzuf.
