Arutz Sheva - Israel National Radio will be using a new internet platform called Google Hangouts to broadcast a special interactive Chanukah show. The program will be streamed live on audio and video. Viewers can participate using their webcams by logging onto a special Arutz Sheva session of Google+ Hangouts On Air. Show host Avraham Venismach of the Aliyah Fever podcast explained the concept on Arutz Sheva's Realiy Bytes Radio with Josh Hasten.

"You can chat with the show hosts and guests," Venismach told Hasten. A variety of Arutz Sheva show hosts will be on hand, including Ben Bresky of the Israel Beat Jewish Music Podcast who will be streaming live from the main Arutz Sheva studios. Walter Bingham, host of Walter's World, will broadcast from his Jerusalem studio. 

Other guests will including Dr. Ian Stern of the Israel Antiquities Authority who helped discover artifacts dating to the time of the Maccabees. 

"The Aliyah revival will start with the Chanukah story and move into the historical aspects with Prof. Stern," Venismach stated. "Our time-frame will move along from the exile to the Ingathering of the Exiles, which is happening right now. Nefesh B'Nefesh can talk to you about that," Venismach stated, referring to the scheduled interview with Danny Oberman, a vice-president of the Nefesh B'Nefesh aliyah organization.

Also scheduled to speak will be Herby Dan of Herby's Bake Shop in Beit El. The award-winning bakery will sample sufganiot or Chanukah jelly donuts live on camera.

David Lev of Aliyah Magazine will join the program as well. Live music will be provided by Yerachmiel Ziegler of Little Apple Studios.

"Anyone with an internet connection can join in," Venismach said. "The modern day Maccabees are the people standing up for Israel. And we're going to broadcast that in a fun and exciting way. We're going to talk about some serious topic, but in general it's going to be a party atmosphere suing modern technology," he said.
