Civil Administration head Brigadier General Motti Almoz signed a series of regulations on Sunday governing the installation and use of photovoltaic electricity generations systems [solar power] in Judea and Samaria.

The new regulations were made in accordance with recommendations by a team led by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Major General Eitan Dangot, and the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Using these new regulations, entrepreneurs in Judea and Samaria can obtain a 20-year license to produce electricity using protovoltaic systems producing between 50 to 500 KW of electricity.

The new regulations are scheduled to come into force within 30 days from the date of signature, starting next month on the eve of Hanukkah (12/20/11). On that day applications for licenses to produce electricity can be submitted to the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria.

A Civil Administration spokesman said that details of the manner of filing of applications procedures can be found on COGAT website.
