The grandson of Rabbi Meir Kahane has been banned from entering Judea and Samaria for the next three months.
The order, issued by the IDF, was signed by OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Avi Mizrachi.
It banned Meir Ettinger for his involvement in a self-defense class aimed at teaching residents of Judea and Samaria how to protect themselves.
Ettinger spends much of his time in the Samaria community of Migron, where three permanent homes were recently destroyed in a violent midnight operation by special security forces.
The decision to ban the activist from his home was allegedly made amid to concerns that “settler violence could ignite the territories and lead to an escalation” of violence surrounding the Palestinian Authority bid for recognition as a sovereign nation within Israel's current borders, according to New Middle East News.
The order was handed to the young activist by Israel Police detectives as he was standing at the French Hill junction in the city of Jerusalem, according to a report in the Hebrew-language Ha'aretz newspaper.
The ban followed an article Ettinger had written, promoting physical defense of outposts throughout Judea and Samaria against PA Arab terrorism. The article, which criticized the actions of a particular IDF officer who serves in Judea and Samaria, was posted on the Hebrew-language HaKol HaYehudi (The Jewish Voice) website.
Meir Kahane, a U.S.-born activist and MK who founded the Kach movement, was banned from Israel's parliament in 1988. Kahane was subsequently assassinated by an Arab terrorist during a speech at a hotel in Brooklyn, New York. His son and daughter-in-law were killed in an attack almost eleven years ago by PA Arab terrorists in Samaria.
