The Haifa Magistrates Court ruled Friday to end a media gag order, and to reveal that police have arrested a suspect in an attack that led to a teenage girl’s mysterious injury. The suspect is a resident of the Sharon region.

The suspect’s identity has not yet been revealed. He was arrested on Monday, and is suspected of attempted kidnapping.

Sixteen-year-old Yeshua Yosefson was found comatose at the side of a road three months ago. Police initially believed the high school student had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident, but further examination led them to believe that she had jumped or been pushed from a moving car.

Yeshua has since regained consciousness, but does not remember details of what happened prior to her injury. However, what she does recall has strengthened suspicions that she jumped from a car as the driver attempted to attack her.

Two of her fellow students further strengthened those suspicions when they told police that a man who had been acting suspiciously had offered them a ride shortly before Yosefson disappeared.

Yeshua spoke to Besheva magazine two weeks ago and warned other youth not to hitchhike. “From my experience I learned that it could happen to anyone,” she said. “Thank G-d, I was lucky that I was being watched over but you cannot rely on a miracle.”
