The parents of Ido (Idodi) Zoldan HY”D, celebrated the birth of their first grandson on Sunday.

The baby’s parents decided to name their son Ido Yair, after his uncle, 29 year old father of two, murdered by terrorists who, in 2007, shot at his car near the Shomron (Samaria) town of Kedumim, killing him as he was driving to his home in  Shavei Shomron.

Ido’s father, Nachman, served as the sandak during the brit milah and held his grandson during the ceremony. Nachman Zoldan is famed as one of the most active builders and developers of the Shomron and is in charge of the construction of the new Maaleh Zeitim neighborhood near the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

“It’s our first grandson after eight granddaughters that were born to us since Idodi was murdered,” Ido’s mother, Miriam Zoldan, told Arutz Sheva. “Thank G-d we have been blessed that he has been named after Idodi.”

“May this Idodi, Ido Yair, bring us a lot of light and happiness and blessing to our home,” she added. “May we only know happiness and good tidings from now on. For us, and especially for the people of Israel, who should merit the salvation of which we are all in need.”

Proud father and brother-in-law of Ido Zoldan, Elad Mey-Rav, told Arutz Sheva, “We’ve been blessed. We’ve been blessed to have a new Idodi in the family. We pray that this baby will light our way and light the entire people of Israel. That’s the most simple yet deepest meaning there could be.”

Ido Zoldan’s name is also being perpetuated in a neighborhood in the community of Kedumim, Maoz Ido.

(Ed. note: HY"D is acronym for the Hebrew 'Hashem yikom damo', may G-d avenge his blood, said for victims of anti-Semitism in lieu of 'rest in peace'.)
