Arabs vandalized cars of Jews praying at the Western Wall (Kotel) Monday night, the eve of the Tisha B’Av fast day. Thousands of worshippers crowded the Western Wall plaza to hear the Book of Lamentations (Eicha) following the evening prayers.

When they returned to their cars, dozens of the worshippers discovered slashed tires and damage to the bodies of their vehicles. Several journalists covering the prayers also were victims of the vandalism.

Nearby, an Arab snatched the personal revolver of a Jew in the Silwan Valley (Shiloach) but he threw it away after the Jew chased after him.

The unidentified Jew was wounded slightly n the incident and was treated at the Hadassah Mount Scopus hospital. Police are still searching for the Arab.

During the day Tuesday, thousands are visiting the Western Wall to recite prayers on the fast day, which ends at approximately 8 p.m.
