A new synagogue was dedicated Monday at Mitzpeh Avichai (previously known as Hill 18), an outpost near Kiryat Arba / Hevron, and a Torah scroll was welcomed into the structure, in a traditional festive ceremony.
The event was planned and scheduled before the recent destruction and violence at Givat Ronen in Samaria, but the news from Samaria was in the air and participants in the ceremony said that it was a proper response to the government's most recent actions against outposts.
The Torah scroll was donated by the Nissim family, whose son lives at Mitzpeh Avichai.
Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, Rabbi Yosef Badichi and MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari (NU) were all on hand at the event.
The synagogue was built by youths who participated in a Youth for the Land of Israel camp, which prepared them for precisely this type of activity.
