This morning, the police arrested a 44-year-old Haifa resident on suspicion of causing damage to a synagogue in the city and setting fire to property.
The police officers who arrived at the scene caught the suspect after lighting a prayer shawl on fire in the synagogue and, in the presence of the police officers, threatened to kill all the rabbis and arrive in the evening to burn down the synagogue.
The police intend to request an extension of the suspect's detention in the Magistrate's Court in Haifa tomorrow.
