Thousands attended the funeral on Tuesday night of IDF fighter Major General (res.) Jordan Cobin Cooper, a lone soldier, who died of a rare allergy attack.
They responded to the request of his family who were unable to come to Israel from the USA, due to the many flight cancellations and came to pay their last respects to Cooper at the funeral held at Ganei Ester cemetery in Rishon Lezion.
Cooper began his regular service in 2018 in the Nahal patrol and served for three and a half years, during which time he lived with an adoptive family in Rishon Lezion.
At the end of his regular service, he returned to the US, but on October 7th he left his home, got on a plane and came to fight alongside his comrades in the reserve battalion of the Nahal Patrol. During the war he served a total of about 200 days in the reserves. He finished his service about three weeks ago.
Cooper's mother bought halva at the market in Tel Aviv, and checked that it did not contain an ingredient to which he is allergic. At home he ate the halva and collapsed in front of his family members.
