Following an undercover investigation by the National Fraud Investigations Unit, Lahav 433, the mayor of Netivot, Yehiel Zohar, has been arrested on suspicions of bribery.
Lahav 433 made the investigation public and Zohar and seven others were detained for questioning.
The investigation focused on suspicions that the mayor received certain favors from contractors in Netivot.
The police reported that the economic department of the state attorney's office is participating in the investigation.
