15-year-old boy Or Scorcero who was rescued from drowning in a pool in Emek Hefer was pronounced dead at the Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba today (Sunday).
His family agreed to donate the corneas of his eyes and said that "the light (Or, in Hebrew) in Or's eyes will pass with a lot of love and giving to those in need, as he was prone to doing in life."
Hili Vanuno, the transplant coordinator at the Meir Medical Center, said that, "the choice to donate tissues at a moment of unbearable difficulty for a family that has just lost their most precious is an incomparable nobility of the soul."
"At a time when the light is going out for them, they are giving new light to those who need it and to the memory of their loved one," added the transplant coordinator.
