Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely spoke to Arutz Sheva at the Israel American Council Conference in Washington DC Monday.
Hotovely spoke about her visits to US college campuses, which she undertook to see if anti-Israel sentiment is as prevalent at universities and colleges as reports suggest.
"I decided to go to three campuses to begin with, Columbia, NYU, and Princeton. So far, what I've seen is that there is a [large] gap in knowledge about Israel," she said. "People are not aware of the real facts about Israel. This is part of the dialogue I would like to maintain with the people living here."
Hotovely was critical of the moral relativism she saw in the US. "It's even against American values, because America is fighting terrorism together with Israel, and some of the young people don't understand that there are people who are part of an evil ideology. I think it is very difficult for them to understand because they have this concept of relativism and post-modernism. Those are the things which define their values. I think this is exactly where we need to go in to try to give them the Israeli perspective."
