A Torah scroll donated by Jews from the United States was brought Wednesday to the Border Police base at Yad Mordechai, where Officer Hadas Malka, who was murdered in the recent terrorist attack at the Damascus Gate, served.
The dedication ceremony for the Torah was attended by the Chief Rabbi of the Israel Police, Major General Rami Brachihu, the Border Police commanders, Hadas' fellow officers, and the family of the American donors.
The family had originally intended to donate the Torah scroll to the synagogue at the Ashdod naval base, where Hadas began her military service. However, after they learned of the terrorist attack in which she was murdered, they decided to donate the scroll to the base where she had last served.
The family also donated new furniture to the synagogue in Hadas' memory.
