Quoting a senior right-wing official, Channel 2 reported that right-wing parties are beginning to understand their chance of beating Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) in the next Israeli elections depends on their ability to unite under one banner.

Recent polls have shown Lapid has a high chance of becoming the next Prime Minister, should the investigation against Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu force him to resign.

According to Channel 2, the source said the Likud, Yisrael Beytenu, and Jewish Home parties would have to unite into one or two parties, in order to draw enough voters to combat Lapid and keep Israel's government right-wing.

The report also said Netanyahu preferred to stay close to home and had therefore canceled his planned trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos.
