The father of Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, who was murdered in Mumbai's Chabad House, has filed suit in a New York federal court against Pakistan’s intelligence agency and the terrorist group that carried out the murders.
Rabbi Holtzberg and his wife Rivka were among the six victims in Chabad House during the 2008 Mumbai massacres. The only surviving terrorist of the 10-member gang is Mohammed Ajmal Kasab of Pakistan, who has been sentenced to death for conspiracy, murder and waging war.
The terrorists killed more than 160 victims in two Mumbai hotels and at the Chabad House, where Rabbi Holtzberg was the director.
A non-Jewish nanny, Sandra Samuel, saved the Holtzbergs’ child Moshe, and she continues to take care of him in Israel.
Rabbi Holtzberg’s father charged Pakistan intelligence with aiding the terrorists by providing “critical planning, material support, control and coordination for the attacks." The suit did not name the amount of financial damages being claimed.
Family members are seeking monetary damages but did not specify an amount.
