Mahmoud Al-Aloul, deputy leader of the Fatah movement headed by Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas, says that the "popular resistance" in the village of Beita, south of Shechem (Nablus), will continue until the "purge" of Jabal Sabih (a reference to the community of Evyatar) from "settlers" and the "occupation" army.

In an interview with Voice of Palestine radio, Aloul said that Palestinian Arabs oppose the arrangement agreed to by the Israeli government, according to which the residents will be evacuated in exchange for an undertaking to establish a yeshiva in the community.

The Palestinian "resistance" was a success, he said, as reflected in the settlers' "withdrawal" from the outpost, thanks to the insistence on holding on to the land.

He noted that the popular resistance in Beita was characterized by the widespread participation of the residents in actions against the outpost and this was one of the factors of the "victory".

The residents of Beita have in recent weeks escalated the harassment of the residents of Evyatar by, among other things, attacking the outpost around the clock, burning tires and directing thick smoke towards the community while making deafening noises.
