The chairman of the Shas party, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, and the chairman of the Religious Zionist Party, MK Bezalel Smotrich, met this evening (Monday) at Deri's home in the Har Nof neighborhood of Jerusalem.

According to Yisrael Hayom, Deri and Smotrich have made a pact not to join a government led by Naftali Bennett.

Earlier, Smotrich's representatives arrived at the president's house and recommended that Netanyahu be given the job of forming the government.

The Religious Zionist delegation to the President's House included Itamar Ben-Gvir, Michal Waldiger and Simcha Rotman. "We think Netanyahu has the greatest chance and ability to form a government," Waldiger said.

This morning (Monday), President Reuven Rivlin began his round of consultations with representatives of all parties in the Knesset as part of choosing the candidate to be given the mandate for the next government.

So far, the Likud, Shas, UTJ, and Religious Zionism have given 52 recommendations for Benjamin Netanyahu.

Yesh Atid, Blue and White, Labor and Yisrael Beyteinu have given Yair Lapid 39 votes.
