The Chief Rabbi of Tzfat, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, called on Americans to vote against “appeasement” with Iran and to support the presidential candidate in next week’s election who will be most likely to confront radical Islam.

In a video message, Rabbi Eliyahu appeared to endorse President Donald Trump, though he did not mention the president by name.

Rabbi Eliyahu also appeared to criticize then-President Barack Obama’s policies vis-à-vis Iran, but again, did not name the former president.

“There was an American president who thought that we must coddle snakes, that we should treat [Iran] gently. He gave them choices, he gave them money, and unchained them from legal obligations. The results were terrible.”

“Thank God, now the US has a president who knows that snakes should not be coddled.”

The rabbi compared the Obama administration’s support for the 2015 Iran nuclear deal to Allied appeasement of Nazi Germany prior to the outbreak of World War II.

“I would like to remind everyone that before World War II, the UK had a prime minister who thought that appeasing the Nazis and giving in to them would bring peace to the world. The result was a great disaster for the Jews, and a great disaster for Europe.”

“That’s why I am asking that anyone who cares about our world should support the president who will fight… radical Islam.”
