Palestinian Authority (PA) cabinet leader Mohammad Shtayyeh continues to attack the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain for their decision to establish ties with Israel.

In a statement issued over the weekend, Shtayyeh said that normalization with the "occupied state" is an expression of a short-sighted view which takes the US administration into consideration, ignores strategic issues, comes at the expense of the hopes of the Arab and Islamic nation and of Palestinian rights and gives legitimacy to occupation, settlement and aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Shtayyeh called the policies of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain "a blatant violation of the official and popular Arab position" and "a blow to the joint Arab activity that serves the state of colonialism Israel and the country that gives it protection (the US -ed.)".

He added that the US administration had failed in its efforts to bring the Palestinians to surrender and was mistaken in its illusions that these agreements would bring an end to the Palestinian issue.

"What would be the Arab position that maintains normalization with Israel on the pretext of the Iranian threat if the next US administration renews the agreement with Iran?" asked Shtayyeh.
