The IDF released video footage Thursday afternoon of the capture of a Hamas terrorist who attempted to infiltrate into Israeli territory from the Mediterranean.

The incident occurred a month ago, authorities say, when the terrorist attempted to swim from the Gaza Strip to the Israeli coast.

Israeli naval forces spotted the terrorist and captured him before he reached the shore.

Earlier on Sunday, the Shin Bet internal security agency revealed that 24-year-old Hamas terrorist Ezz Alladin Hussein, a resident of the northern Gaza city of Jabalia, had been arrested last month while trying to swim into Israel.

During his interrogation, Hussein revealed that he was a member of the Hamas terrorist organization's air defense network, and that, in the event of an Israeli operation in the area, he had been ordered to fire an anti-aircraft missile at incoming Israeli helicopters.

Hussein was first recruited by Hamas in 2013, and has served in the terror group's air defense team since 2018.
