Former Defense Minister and Yamina chairman Naftali Bennett attacked the Netanyahu-Gantz government on Thursday in the wake of the surge in the number of coronavirus cases in Israel.

"The government's failure to establish an emergency plan against the coronavirus has resulted in mass unemployment of over one million Israeli citizens. The preschool-like behavior of the government must stop today," Bennett said.

“The government needs to step away from the concept that prevents it from taking action today, recruit 2,500 students, train them, increase the volume of tests to 100,000 and enforce effective isolation in order to prevent the virus from spreading and in order to beat the coronavirus without shutting down the State of Israel. The citizens of the State of Israel must get their livelihoods back,” he added.

In light of the surge in cases of the virus, the government on Thursday evening approved the limiting of gathering to 20 people, including in synagogues. Up to 50 people will be permitted to attend weddings and banquets and enter bars and clubs.
