The government convened at 7 PM Thursday evening to approve the re-imposition of restrictions in response to the increase in coronavirus cases in Israel.

The ministers will be asked to approve a limit of 50 people at event halls and banning crowds of over 20 people, including at synagogues.

According to data published by the Education Ministry Thursday, 1,162 students and teaching staff have been diagnosed with the coroanvirus to date. 24,577 teaching staff and students are in isolation.

Meanwhile, police forces have been deployed in a large scale across the country in an effort to enforce restrictions and emergency regulations, with a focus on crowded venues such as event halls and clubs.

The operation will continue throughout the weekend. Violators will face warnings, fines, and the loss of their business licenses.
