The Gush Etzion Regional Council recently hosted Judea and Samaria Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) along with her bureau chief Avi Naim.

As part of the visit and tour of the area, the Council held a work meeting with Hotovely - the first since Hotovely assumed her new role, which involves managing the daily challenges that exist in Judea and Samaria, and the implications of applying sovereignty.

The Regional Council stressed that under no circumstances would a construction freeze be acceptable, nor would concessions on the sovereignty map, since the current map could endanger Gush communities by allowing the establishment of an Arab State between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

“Gush Etzion in its entirety safeguards Jerusalem, and the community of Karmei Tzur is in a strategic location. The application of sovereignty is an historic window of opportunity and we need to take advantage of it without any type of building freeze,” Hotovely said.

Gush Etzion Regional Council Head Shlomo Ne’eman, who accompanied Hotovely, said, “Our good friend Minister Hotovely knows Judea and Samaria and Gush Etzion intimately. Tzipi understands the importance of keeping our homeland secure. We trust that the Minister will continue to work on behalf of Judea and Samaria and will not allow a building freeze, and won’t allow the paving of a path towards an Arab terror state in the heart of the country.”
