Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Sunday informed Finance Committee chairman MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) that he is waiving a series of benefits related to state spending by virtue of his role as Alternate Prime Minister.

Gantz said he would be waiving his right for an alternative Prime Minister’s Residence, employees or expenses related to the property and also financing his family's expenses.

The Finance Committee is expected to discuss on Tuesday the request to equate Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz's salary with that of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, as well as the establishment of an alternate residence and payment of the State of all the expenses required to operate and maintain the residence.

The proposal submitted to the Finance Committee states that "the State Treasury will bear all the expenses required to operate and maintain the residence, including staff, financial expenses of the Prime Minister and his residents, accommodation expenses, as well as all expenses for maintaining the residence." It also states that "services in the residence will be provided by staff of the Prime Minister's Office, including official residence employees."
