A group in Britain called “Na’amod: British Jews Against Occupation” is calling on the UK government to reject Tzipi Hotovely as Israel’s new ambassador to the UK.

Earlier this month, Likud Minister Hotovely confirmed that she had accepted Prime Minister Netanyahu’s proposal that she be tapped for the position, thus vacating her current position as Settlement Affairs Minister.

In a petition addressed to the UK government, Na’amod accuses Hotovely of an “appalling record of racist and inflammatory behavior,” which it says includes her opposition to intermarriage between Jews and Arabs and radical-leftist groups like Breaking the Silence.

In addition, it cites Hotovely’s support for Jewish sovereignty over the entire land of Israel as was promised by G-d to the Jewish People in the Bible, and her sentiments that Israeli “Occupation” is “a myth” and Palestinian national history a lie that rests on theft of Jewish history.

“As British Jews we are clear: Tzipi Hotovely's values and politics have no place in the UK. It is crucial that the UK government sends a message that her views are unacceptable, and rejects her nomination as ambassador,” the petition concludes.

As of Sunday, the petition has garnered over 1,000 signatures.
