Yisrael Beytenu Chairman MK Avigdor Liberman on Saturday said he "hopes" that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "will do us all a favor and step down."

Speaking at a Shabbatarbut event in the central town of Shoham, Liberman said that "if Netanyahu steps down, it will be very simple to form a coalition."

He added that he does not understand how Netanyahu is right-wing: "He sat with archterrorist Yasser] Arafat and Joint Arab List MK Ahmad] Tibi and signed the Hevron agreement, and voted in favor of the Disengagement."

Liberman added that Netanyahu was the one who prevented Yisrael Beytenu from advancing the bill to apply sovereignty to the Jordan Valley.

However, he said that Blue and White Chairman MK Benny Gantz is "weak and confused": "I don't understand whether he's in favor of sovereignty in the Jordan Valley or not."

The Likud party responded: "The cat is out of the bag. Liberman is going with the left, together with Gantz and Ahmad Tibi."

In a Facebook post, Liberman responded to the Likud's statement: "I am having difficulty understanding those close to the Prime Minister. Why was the deal between Netanyahu, Arafat, and Tibi in Washington and the signing of an agreement to transfer Areas B and C to the Palestinian Authority legitimate, but to sit in a coalition with former Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan (Meretz) is not legitimate?"
