Baylor University in Waco, Texas, briefly went on lockdown on Thursday afternoon after a shooting was reported near campus.

The university told students on Twitter to seek shelter due to the apparent shooting, but later noted that local police had issued an all-clear.

Waco Police Department spokesman Garen Bynum told The Hill that the incident occurred 10 to 15 blocks away from the Baylor campus and did not appear to be related to the university.

The spokesman said that a 22-year-old man was shot in the arm, but that the man was not a Baylor student and that his injuries were not life threatening.

He added that the department does not have a reason to believe Baylor students are in danger.
