Approximately one week ago, the Allied Spirit X exercise, in which the Reconnaissance Battalion of the IDF Paratroopers Brigade participated, reached its conclusion The exercise was held in Germany with the participation of militaries from various countries, primarily the United States, Germany and Great Britain.

This exercise marked the first time in which the IDF dispatched a battalion to train on foreign soil in cooperation with other armies. The purposes of the exercise are to improve interoperability between the militaries, enhance mutual learning processes and to train the forces. During the exercise the troops simulated combat in various scenarios while acquiring new techniques and preserving existing skills.

During the exercise the Reconnaissance, Tow (anti-tank) and the Engineering and Sabotage Companies trained under American, German and British Battalions.

During the troops’ stay in Germany, educational activities were carried out in the cities of Nuremberg and Regensburg as a part of an education program which emphasizes the remembrance of the Holocaust and the acts of courage and Jewish heritage.

Paratroopers Reconnaissance Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Oded Ziman said, "A few weeks ago the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Battalion's soldiers landed in Germany, in order to participate in a mutual exercise with troops from foreign armies."

"Essentially, carrying out the exercise on German soil constitutes significant closure and a milestone for the IDF. This exercise includes extensive participation of American, British and German military forces.

"We are reaching the peak of a mutual learning process and cooperation, derived from the understanding that in this position we represent both the IDF and the State of Israel."
