US President Donald Trump's upcoming meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will include discussions on counterterrorism cooperation, a statement from US Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders read.

The White House meeting, announced Friday, will be el-Sisi's second since Trump took office in January 2017.

According to the statement, the April 9 meeting will focus on "strengthening the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt and building on our robust military, economic, and counterterrorism cooperation."

"The two leaders will also discuss developments and shared priorities in the region, including enhancing regional economic integration and addressing ongoing conflicts, and Egypt’s longstanding role as a lynchpin of regional stability."

In January, el-Sisi and Trump discussed Middle East peace over the phone, emphasizing Egypt's efforts in fighting terrorism and the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation with the United States to support these efforts
