The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee met this afternoon in Ofra, following a tour conducted by committee members after the shooting attacks last week at Givat Assaf and Ofra junctions.

During the discussion MK Tzipi Livni said, "We're all feeling this pain. We all back the IDF in its mission to secure every citizen in Judea and Samaria, and to do what is needed. Don't confuse security with ideology, don't argue that your ideology is related to security.

"You want to prevent us from ever separating from the Palestinians. I'll continue to act so that eventually we can separate from them. Hamas doesn't accept your existence here; it doesn't accept the existence of Tel Aviv," Livni added. "Don't use security to advance your ideology. We'll continue to provide security to the residents. The argument about what should be done to separate or annex is conducted separately, not against the background of terrorism and not against the background of the attacks."

Livni's words angered many of those present in the room, and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan slammed her with harsh words: "Why do you hate us; what did we do to you? In no other situation would you say such things."
