The oil-rich Gulf Arab state Qatar is preparing a new infusion of cash for the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, weeks after Qatar delivered some $15 million to the Islamic terror group.

According to a report Monday by Yediot Ahronot, Qatar is planning to transfer an additional $15 million to the cash-strapped coastal enclave in the next few days.

The injection of foreign currency will allow the Hamas leadership to pay salaries to some 30,000 officials across the Strip.

The Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority has denied funding to officials in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, after Hamas failed to reinstate PA control over the coastal enclave following last year’s reconciliation agreement.

The PA has also refused to fund transfers of electricity from Israel to Gaza until Hamas relinquishes control over the Strip.

The ongoing standoff between Hamas and the PA has led to a worsening of the economic situation in the Strip, and a deepening of the humanitarian crisis, which has seen the rationing of electricity and restrictions on sewage treatment.

In November, however, Qatar provided fuel for the Strip’s sole power plant, to alleviate the humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

In addition, Qatar provided Hamas with $15 million in cash, enabling the terror organization to pay its 30,000 employees.

Monday’s report claims that like the cash transfer in early November, Israel has approved the transfer of Qatari funds to the Strip, on condition that the money not be used to fund terrorist operations.

Former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, who bolted the government last month over a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, had criticized the original transfer of Qatari money to Gaza, saying the funds would eventually be used to support Hamas’ terrorist operations against Israel.
