Sara Tsubely of Jerusalem may seem like a regular, 20-year-old kallah. Behind her smile and shining eyes, however, is a story that may shock you:

After losing her father to a heart attack, Sara’s mother was left alone with three young girls in the house. Disabled, and unable to work herself, the financial burden was passed down to young Sara. The 20-year-old girl works long shifts at her job, paying the rent and other necessary bills. For years, the focus of her life has been supporting her family.

Now, however, Sara has a new dream in mind: she is engaged to be married. On the outside, she is joyful, and ready to celebrate with her family and friends.

Those closest to her, however, know her secret: The wedding, scheduled for just two weeks from now, may need to be cancelled due to a lack of funds.

Sara’s modest paycheck is simply not enough to continue to pay her family’s rent, and to marry herself off. She has yet to purchase any of the necessary wedding supplies, including a dress. Even if she were to afford rent for an apartment after marriage, there is no money for furniture, appliances, or kitchenware.

Sara’s need has become so dire that her secret has been revealed to the public via an emotional hachnasat kallah campaign. She is watching the campaign’s progress closely, hoping for the opportunity to begin her married life with peace of mind. Donations have already begun to trickle in from people around the world who are moved by the young kallah’s bravery and pain.

Those who wish to help this Sara can do so here for a limited time.
