Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman took part Tuesday in the exchange ceremony of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, held at the Tomb of Samuel the Prophet north of Jerusalem.

After the ceremony, Liberman spoke with the journalists and addressed the threats made by Iranian leaders in recent days.

"Israel can not afford to ignore Iran's threats that its leaders promise to destroy Israel," Liberman said.

"The threats from Tehran come week after week. They do not need excuses for that," Liberman added.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni has in the past referred to the Jewish state as a “cancer” and threatened to "annihilate" the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa.
