Two Gaza men who were shot during riots along the Israel-Gaza frontier recentl died on Monday, Gaza health officials said.
Eighteen-year-old Tahrir Wahada was shot in the head on Friday, April 6th during a violent clash with IDF forces east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. Gaza health officials said Wahada succumbed to his wounds on Monday.
Another rioter, identified as 20-year-old Abdullah Shamali, sustained what health officials in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip called “bullet wounds to his belly” during a riot along the border fence separating Israel from the southern Gaza Strip, near Rafiah [Rafah].
Shamali is the 40th Gazan to die in the violent demonstrations against Israel, dubbed the “March of Return”.
The riots, which began on March 30th, are slated to continue for a total of six weeks, culminating in the annual “Nakba Day” (Catastrophe Day) event on May 15th, one day after the Gregorian calendar anniversary of Israel’s independence.
Gaza health officials claim more than 4,000 rioters have been wounded or injured since the beginning of the riots. Rioters have used firebombs, flaming tires, and improvised bombs dropped from kites to attack Israeli security personnel.
On Sunday, a Hamas terrorist was killed when the terror tunnel he was operating in collapsed in central Gaza.
According to the International Middle East Media Center, the incident took place near Deir al-Balah.
The terrorist, a member of Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades, was identified as Tha’er Nayef az-Zare’ey, 30.
