Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman responded to the death of the Arab youth who approached the fence during the clashes with the IDF.

"The only culprits in the death of the 15-year-old Gaza boy are the Hamas heads, those cowardly leaders who hide behind children and women and send them forward as human shields so they can continue to dig tunnels and carry out acts of terror against the State of Israel.

"We already know of the use of terror in UNRWA facilities, hospitals, and mosques in the past," Liberman added, adding that "yesterday we saw the IDF is the most moral army in the world, making the utmost effort to avoid harming innocent people. I repeat to the residents of Gaza, a tip for longevity: Stay away from the fence."

Four Arabs were killed Friday by IDF gunfire along the Gaza Strip border. IDF forces used riot control measures to clear demonstrators from the area.

United Nations envoy to the Middle East Nikolay Mladenov strongly criticized the Arab teen's killing, saying it does not contribute to peace efforts and adding that "this will only increase anger and lead to more deaths. Children must be protected from violence and made sure they're not exposed to it - so they won't be killed!"

The IDF Spokesman's Office estimated that 3,000 Palestinians demonstrated in five locations along the border, and that demonstrators burned tires and threw rocks. The army says in several cases they attempted to damage the security fence and break into Israeli territory.

At least in two locations demonstrators flew kites carrying cans of flammable material. In two cases the kites fell in Israeli territory and were dealt with by the army. Eight kites were used. Military sources said at least two bombs were exploded on the fence.
