Heads of local councils from Judea and Samaria met today with the Civil Administration chiefs, headed by Brigadier General Ben Hur Achvut.

The municipality heads were exposed to Civil Administration work in a variety of areas to improve quality of life in Judea and Samaria.

Achvut said that over the past year the Civil Administration worked to promote more than 200 programs at various stages, including more than 17,000 housing units and industrial zones.

Brig. Gen. Achvut said that in 2017 many projects were promoted in the field of transportation, economic ventures, and quarrying, and there was a significant increase of 41% in the number of visitors to nature reserve sites in Judea and Samaria, as part of developing regional tourism.

The Civil Administration head presented efforts to increase the water supply in the past year, during which water line upgrades were approved and 7 million cubic meters were added for use by area residents.

Preparations were also made for the summer of 2018 and enforcement efforts against environmental hazards and water theft, in which more than 1,500 enforcement activities were carried out, including for the first time enforcement operations in Area B, under Palestinian Authority responsibility.

As part of the conference, municipality heads were exposed to a plan to promote the area and improve the standard of living for Judea and Samaria's population, including multi-year plans in the areas of water, transportation, outline plans, industrial zones in settlements, and various economic projects.
