For Holocaust Remembrance Day Koolulam invited 600 Holocaust survivors, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to sing together in a special project of Beit Avi Chai and Zikaron baSalon in a most exciting and unique singing event called Koolulam Remembers.

The Holocaust survivors and their families participated in the event at Beit Avi Chai and sang one of the Hebrew songs that most symbolizes the life, joy, and hope of those who survived the Holocaust - Ofra Haza's Live.

Many of the older participants took advantage of the event to tell their life story to other participants whom they did not know, and interesting and exciting encounters were held between the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors who came from all over the country to participate in singing.

The song Hai was written by Ehud Manor and composed by Avi Toledano specially for the Eurovision Song Contest of 1983 in Munich, Germany. Manor said he wrote the song as an anthem of victory and defiance of the Jewish people against those who tried to destroy it. Indeed, the words of the song make it clear that the Jewish people is still alive and continues to flourish - "This is the song my grandfather sang yesterday to my father and today I am."

Beit Avi Chai Director Dr. David Rosenson said "This is an unique project in commemoration and preservation of Holocaust Remembrance Day. In this way of combining the survivors with the generations that follow, we express the victory of spirit and inspiration stirred within us by those who passed through the worst fate possible. We chose a song that symbolizes hope, joy, planting roots, and a statement of choosing life," said Dr. Rosenson.
