Senior White House officials will discuss on Friday the option of significantly reducing the aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

It is not yet clear whether the cuts include UNRWA, the UN's organization's for "Palestinian" "refugees," or only direct US support for the PA.

The discussion comes after PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas slammed US President Donald Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital. It aims to decide on an official response to the PA's behavior towards the US. However, no immediate steps will be taken.

In a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron last month, Abbas said, "The United States has proven to be a dishonest mediator in the peace process and we will no longer accept any plan from it."

On Wednesday, responding to Trump's plan to cut over $300 million in aid to the PA, the PA responded that "Jerusalem is not for sale."
