Fatality in Galilee truck crash

20-year-old killed, another 20-year-old severely injured in collision with truck in upper Galilee.

A 20-year-old man was killed and another young man seriously injured in a traffic accident Wednesday afternoon between a pickup truck and a concrete truck on Route 899 near Kibbutz Yiftah in the Upper Galilee. The truck driver was lightly injured.

The young man suffered many serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. The truck driver taken to Ziv Medical Center.

Four firefighting and rescue teams worked to rescue the injured from the injured from the trucks.

Amiram Amsalem, a Magen David Adom medic said: "This was a very serious accident between a truck and a car. On the side of the road we saw an overturned vehicle, a young man of about 20 who was rescued by the firefighting forces. He was unconscious and without signs of life, and his death was soon declared"

"Another person was lying injured near the scene, also about 20. We gave him life-saving medical treatment on the ground and he was evacuated by helicopter to Rambam Hospital. The truck driver, about 40 years old, was rescued from his vehicle while fully conscious. We carried out preliminary tests on the ground and he was evacuated in light condition to Ziv Hospital. "
