Prior to the events celebrating 70 years since the State of Israel and IDF's founding, site users were asked to choose what they wanted to see as the IDF's official logo for the 70th year.

The IDF invited its soldiers, both regular and reserve fighters, as well as their families and all of Israel, to vote on their favorite logo, choosing the one they wished to see used over the coming year.

The vote was held on the IDF's website, and ended on October 17.

The seventy-year celebrations will peak on Israel's next Independence Day.

In January 2017, Israel's government announced the creation of a special committee to handle the various 70-year celebrations.

"The official events marking Israel's 70th Independence Day will express Israel's character, vision, and accomplishments as a Jewish and democratic state since its founding," Israel's government said at the time.
