President of Indonesia Joko Widodo was traveling to an official ceremony last Thursday marking 72 years since the establishment of the Indonesian army, when he found himself stuck in a huge traffic jam.

After sitting in traffic for 30 minutes, the President decided to exit his official vehicle and set out to the ceremony on foot, together with his security guards.

Documentation of the incident shows citizens lining the road waving to the President, excited to see him walking along the road.

Widodo walked some 2 kilometers in the heat of the sun, together with the Indonesian Police Chief Tito Karnavian. The two arrived at the ceremony on time.
