A 55-year-old woman was crushed on Friday morning by an electric gate as she entered a commercial center in Migdal Haemek.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics administered first aid and transferred the woman to a hospital, while attempting to resuscitate her. She arrived at the hospital in critical condition, with damage to multiple bodily systems.

Later, staff at Haemek Hospital were forced to declare her death.

Initial police investigations show that the woman was injured when she put her hand into the gate in order to open it. It crushed her as it opened.

The investigation is still ongoing.

MDA paramedic Kobi Bibi said, "When we arrived at the scene we saw a woman of approximately 55 years old lying unconscious after she had been crushed by an electric gate and extracted by firefighters. She had no pulse, was not breathing, and had suffered severe injuries to multiple bodily systems."

"We administered life-saving aid and performed extended CPR. The moment we could, we placed her in an ambulance and transferred her to a hospital, while continuing to perform CPR. She is in critical condition."

United Hatzalah paramedic Priel Kalimi said, "When we arrived at the scene, I saw a woman trapped and unconscious, after an iron electric gate had closed on her, causing injuries to multiple bodily systems."

"I asked the United Hatzalah headquarters to send firefighters, and after she was extracted, we began attempting to resuscitate the woman, who was in critical condition. When the ambulance came, we transferred her to Haemek Hospital in Afula, all the while attempting to resuscitate her."
