Danon and GuterresIsraeli mission to UN spokesperson

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will visit Israel next week. Guterres will be accompanied on his visit by Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon.

The Secretary-General will land here on Sunday evening and stay in Israel for three days.

During his visit, he will meet with President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. He will also travel to Ramallah to meet Mahmoud Abbas and other PA officials.

Guterres will be taken on a helicopter tour of the country in order to show him Israel's security situation. He will also be presented with a map of security threats which surround Israel. He will then visit the Gaza envelope and the Gaza Strip itself.

The Secretary-General will visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem before concluding his visit with a speech at the Diaspora Museum in Tel Aviv.

Israel's ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, welcomed the Secretary-General's visit and said that "in the face of attempts to harm Israel in the UN arena, we are looking forward to showing (Guterres) the true Israel, which is an island of prosperity and stability in the tumultuous Middle East."

"Particularly because of the UN's discriminating treatment of Israel, it's important for the secretary general to see the complex challenges Israel is dealing with up close, along with its great contribution to the world as an innovative and groundbreaking country in many fields," Danon added
